Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

General

CPD is the English abbreviation for PE (permanent education). Global Network Group (GNG) operates as a conformity assessment body (CAB) and certifies individuals (practitioners). ADR Register, ICR Coach Register and EMCI Register are part of Global Network Group. Since April 28, 2008, GNG has been ISO 9001 certified by LRQA (formerly Lloyds Register). All certification processes are carried out against the international ISO standards, with CPD being mandatory for person-based certification. CPD is tested at periodic recertification. 

CPD points

A minimum number of CPD points must be obtained per certification period. The points must be scope related or practice supportive. CPD points are not client assignments. 

CPD client assignments

A minimum number of client assignments must be completed per certification period. Assignments must meet the code of conduct (PD.002) and scope- process- procedure requirements (PD.003). CPD client assignments are not CPD points. Assignments can also be calculated by hours or turnover, in stead of by numbers.

Minimum number of CPD points and client assignments per certification period

Each register has its own reference document AD.004 (CPD requirements). This document indicates for each certification period the minimum number of CPD points to be obtained and the minimum number of client assignments performed.

CPD categories 

There are five CPD categories, which are elaborated/described in the reference document GNG.PD.015 (Rules for CPD). This document applies to all registers.

Scopes

Assignments and points may be spread across all scopes for which the practitioner is certified. Unless otherwise specified, no specific number per scope applies.

Scope related

Scope related means that the activity is linked to the scopes for which the practitioner is certified.

Practice supportive

Practice supporting means that the activity is necessary for the practitioner to carry out the business practice. Practice support does not have to be scope related. Think for example of a language course if it is important or mandatory that clients must be addressed in a specific language.

No prior recognition

GNG does not work with prior/advance recognition of CPD. Each certificate holder decides whether a CPD point or client assignment qualifies. The auditor or peer reviewer in charge of recertification checks the statement. If a discrepancy is found, a solution period is granted. It is also possible to object.

Evidence

The certificate holder him/herself provides the evidence. The burden of proof lies with the certificate holder. Always provide sufficient and unambiguous evidence, such as proof of participation (diplomas, certificates, invoices, participation confirmations) and a verifiable client file (assignment file).

Administration

CPD points and client assignments can be tracked in the certificate holder's personal dashboard. This is not mandatory. The certificate holder may also make a statement to the auditor by other means. In the dashboard, the underlying evidence cannot be uploaded. The evidence is kept by the certificate holder and shown to the auditor or peer reviewer.
